Pre Wedding Pampering

I spent this evening being pampered by Melissa Tyers who runs Au Naturelle Beauty in Edwinstowe, near Mansfield. It was a real joy to take some time out, previewing the treatments available to brides-to-be in the run up to their wedding. Melissa offers a full range of beauty treatments to her customers including pre wedding treatments ideal for making you feel a million dollars on your wedding day. It was the pedicure though that I plumped for in the end. Au Naturelle Beauty stocks Jessica products and polishes, a celebrity brand with a delicious selection of colours that I am already a fan of, however Melissa has trained with the Jessica organisation and really knows how to use the products to their best.

Starting with an electric pumice stone to remove any hardened skin on the balls of the feet, followed by a relaxing foot spa, she then used a salt and oatmeal scrub on my legs and feet. She applied a foot mask before massaging my legs, feet and nails with various sweet smelling creams and oils, including Jessica almond oil. My feet had never felt so soft and relaxed and I totally forgot I had been stood in high heels all day.

After some indecision I was persuaded to try a bright orange colour that looks amazing for Summer toes. There’s no doubt that a professional pedicure is an art and Melissa is clearly a perfectionist too; the finish was immaculate. Melissa seals and polishes the finished nail so the polish will be less likely to chip or smudge and is therefore ideal for long lasting pretty toes in wedding shoes.

Melissa’s salon can be found on Edwinstowe High Street and she is flexible with appointment times if you need her to fit around your big day. Why not treat you and your hens to a pampering session, have a manicure for those close-up pictures of the ring, or try the St Tropez tanning treatment for gorgeous golden skin.

Back to the Studio

Having gained experience in studio portraiture before wedding photography, I revisited the photography studio again recently. The lighting and conditions available at a wedding are entirely different and the wedding photographer generally relies on natural light with some diffused on-camera flash where necessary. Visit my online wedding gallery for examples. In the studio however, control over where the light hits the subject and how strong it is lies entirely in the hands of the photographer.

I wanted to focus on old-Hollywood, when digital imaging was not available and they couldn’t rely on post-photography touch ups. In those days, the lighting simply had to flatter and create a flawless finish. Classic beauty lighting is an art to get right but the results are beautiful, feminine and fashion forward, whilst also giving a classic retro feel which is very ‘40’s glamour’. I love it.

The model here happens also to be my mum, who defies her 59 years and looks amazing in a range of styles. She’s also a very competent make-up artist providing bridal make-up and will be working with Mirror Imaging on future makeover photo shoots. I’m sure you’ll agree the results are stunning and provide a preview of the exciting services we’ll be able to offer in the future.

Wedding Albums and Prints

We’re very pleased to launch Mirror Imaging’s new wedding photography website, showcasing our portfolio of images and sample wedding albums. The albums and prints we use have been sourced after much research to achieve the best possible finish to fit most wedding budgets.

Our modern Storybook albums display your images printed directly on the pages and are a brilliant solution for couples who wish to keep their wedding album accessible to friends and family. Duplicate Storybook albums can easily be ordered for parents or friends at very reasonable cost.

Queensberry albums are beautiful hand made albums traditionally assembled to last a lifetime, whilst also being cutting edge with stylish design and modern details. The finish quality of both the printing and mounting makes the photographs come alive and the albums are a joy to return to again and again.

We are particularly proud of our mounted prints and we believe very few wedding photographers are offering anything close. Arranging a no obligation meeting with Mirror Imaging allows you to see and handle these albums and prints in person before you decide to book.
